30 in September 2014 - Plein Air from Yesterday

Acrylic Plein Air, 8x10"

Back to using brushes for this one.  I am consistently fickle, aren't I?

Tip for the 30 in 30ers:  I have spent some time the past couple days doing some loose starts, so that I have something I can work on finishing during the rest of my work week.  Here I am giving a tip before seeing if the tip is going to work for me!

My reasoning, though, is that it is going to help me to have something to pick up and complete, as opposed to having to having to do a painting from start to finish every day.  And because I'm doing lots of starts, I'm doing them loosely, not making them too precious, just enjoying getting something down.

We'll see how it goes!

Maybe the idea will help someone else.

The above painting, however, was done from start to finish in one standing.  It was GREAT to be outside in the early morning.  So I am grateful for the chance to paint this one.  The scan is terrible, so I am not putting this one up for sale until I can get an image that represents.

Enjoy the challenge, everyone!

Good morning Meredith. I like this and I like your tip. I set things up ahead also, usually the still life and the drawing and then before I know it I am painting.

Thanks, Sandra. Yes, I think setting up ahead is a good idea, too. Setting up a still life can take as long as painting it, I have found!

Meredith, I agree with your plan. I start a couple of paintings and then review them while I am on the treadmill. Sometimes I see something the next morning that needs to be corrected before I go any further.

Hi Sandra and Meredith,
It's nice to see you on the challenge. Two days and I might be burned out already. I've been on a kick of doing paintings for babies, maybe I will stick with that. I just don't know. I like your tip, Meredith, and will give it a try. Thanks

Your tip is great... it must have been planted in those "pink balloons" because that is exactly how I started.... about 6-7 starts...more about that in an e-mail...
Love the variety and simplicity!!!

Excellent idea . This looks like something I could see from my front door which is my theme. Love it.

So glad to see you doing the challenge. I have been starting some and putting them aside, too. I think it will really help not to have to start from square one.
This one and your first painting are really nice. Have fun!
