30 in September 2015 - Returning

Acrylic 8x10"

I could have painted a whole 'nother painting in the amount of time I have spent fiddling with this image in Picasa and Photoshop Elements, trying to get it to look more like the image I painted.  I don't know why the yellow stands out so much.

You will be happy to know I am taking a half-day workshop with a renowned local photographer this month on how to use Photoshop elements.  Hopefully, I will have a clearer idea of how to make my images look more like my paintings.   Meanwhile, why that yellow is so strong and contrasty, I'll never know.

This one is painted on canvas board, unusual for me, because I don't usually work on canvas.   30 in 30 is a time for experimentation.

But thanks for  being here to Watch, and for those of you who are in this painting challenge with me--Happy Painting!

It doesn't seem too strong... love the sky!!! Good luck on learning Photoshop... try photographing instead of scanning,,, it may have something to do with the color profile of the scanner.

Hi Meridith! Great to watch you paint in the challenge. I have had plenty of those joyful times with pics if my paintings. I find it best to really strive for good lighting when taking the pic. Good luck! I'll be watching.

Thanks, Carol...I guess the issue is, the sky looks different in the painting. Although who knows (but you) how it looks on your monitor! Yes, I need to figure out calibration. Thanks for reminding me. Will put it on the list of questions for class.

Thanks, Patti! Glad to see you here. I'll be watching you, too!

It's a nice piece. I think you need to play with the Lighting/Levels but you will learn about that in the class. My boyfriend is a Photoshop whiz so I've picked up a lot of it from him. I always wonder how other people know how to do this stuff, since without him, I wouldn't have had a clue. Some pieces are really tricky and without his help they would never look like the actual pieces. And yes, I think all the photos, Photoshopping, posting, etc. take longer than the painting. You have me curious--if you don't normally work on canvas, then what do you work on? I can't believe you have a job and are doing this challenge! I can barely pull it off without one. Of course, I haven't paid the rent yet either...
