Scanned

                                                                                Acrylic,  8x8"

For this image, I decided to try my scanner.  The good news was it was quick and it was totally square when I went to crop.  And I know by definition, the lighting was decent.  The colors are still not quite right, but the worst part was the SOUND the poor painting made as it was removed from the scanner bed!  Scary!   I thought I had left half the painting behind.  Strangely, the painting was completely unharmed.  I did the scan after the painting was already dry for a week, but apparently it still had some objections...

Today, two people I care about very much had surgeries.  Here's to knowing all is well again....

With all you have going on, you still found time to paint and post! Your an inspiration!

I like this still life, and it seems that scanning this painting turned out well. The colors are nice and rich. I'm too impatient to wait for a painting to dry. That's one advantage of using acrylics!

Awww, Jacklyn, you are too kind! Thanks for stopping by. Watchers, Jacklyn is a new blogging friend who is also a wonderful artist, check out her site!

Thanks, Linda and yes, huge difference between acrylics and oils. I kept checking the paintings from Dreama's workshop and they were continually wet. I finally decided to leave them alone for a few weeks!

I think I have told you guys already to check out Linda Nickles's blog, but she has a new website now that really showcases her beautiful works. You should see the gorgeous marshes she paints plein air right in her own neighborhood!

Really nice still life. Love the colors you put together.
I wonder why it objected to the scan? It should have been dry... Nothing is easy is it?

Thanks, Cathy! I guess it was dry. But it sure SOUNDED like it was tacky. Someday I'll have this image taking thing down!

Meredith I believe this is the first time I've ever heard of directly scanning a painting. You're such an innovator! How do you think the colors compare to the original? And was it more to your liking than photographing?
I hope your mother is doing better.

love the colors and the items. Not sure if it's ceramic or stoneware, but love them both. Also I like the background treatment.

Thanks, Sharon, and I'm glad you are feeling better, too!

Thanks for caring. Finally can see well enough to check your blog but commenting is a big challenge. This painting would make a nice pairing with the one on the right, imo.
Love,
